PODCAST #40:Interview with The Rice’s

John and Luz Rice have a riveting "together story" unlike any other. Luz is from Columbia and has not known American Football before she met John. You have to hear their story to believe it. Now, Luz and John have four children and they are all in on being a "footbal family", so much so that their daughter is the Director of Football Operations for her Dad.

Coach Rice served as an assistant coach on the Poly Football Varsity Football Staff for the 2018 season. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, one of the premier high school programs in the country, and the 2016 California large school CIF State Champion and Maxpreps #2 ranked football program in the U.S.A.

He has been a high school football coach 34 years, and has served as a head coach, as well as a coordinator, both offensively and defensively, and as a position coach at various times for every position on the gridiron. His career has included stints at three large-school state championship-level programs, including national power Louisville Trinity, 19-time state large school state champion.

Coach Rice currently serves as the Executive Vice-President of the Riverside County Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF), which annually honors the highest academic and athletic achievers in the Riverside County High School Community, and he is serving in his 5th year as NFF Banquet Chair.

He also serves on the Executive Board of the Southern California Coaches Association (SCFCA), which supports Southern California high school football coaches and promotes Southern California Football. Coach Rice is serving in his 6th year as Clinic Director for SCFCA.
